WOLFPACK HOOPS

A Big Summer For Former Wolfpackers

June 22, 2010 by Matthew Bradham

When you get a group of former NC State basketball players together, you will hear them describe themselves as a tight-knit group. No matter if the players played in different decades, they will tell you that they are a part of a huge family. The phrase "keeping it all in the family" has become a staple in our culture, and the Wolfpack basketball players have taken it to heart. Currently, former NC State basketball player Jamie Knox is the agent representing 10 former Wolfpack players (Josh Powell, Marcus Melvin, Gavin Grant, Denn, Anthony Grundy, Clifford Crawford, Cameron Bennerman, Jordan Collins and Courtney Fells). We spoke with Jamie recently and he gave us an update on a couple of the guys that he represents.
Courtney Fells just finished a three day mini-camp with the Charlotte Bobcats last week (Tuesday-Thursday). He has been invited back for a second look this Wednesday along with Anthony Grundy.
Also, Dennis Horner and Farnold Degand will be attending the ACMT exposure camp near DC Dulles airport at Hoopsmagic June 28th-June 30th.

Courtney Fells
has a couple of overseas offers in hand, but after doing well at the initial NBA free agent mini-camp, they invited him back for a one day session with other summer league/training camp hopefuls.

Anthony Grundy
played in one of the better leagues internationally last season and did well. He has worked hard and the Bobcats have taken notice. They have no draft picks and will primarily pull from the free agent pool for summer league spots.

Farnold Degand
has an up hill battle, but his quickness, speed and other good point guard skills will attract some interest. This camp will allow him to compete against other professionals and give him the chance to compare his game to them, and see the things he needs to work on to be successful.
